Auc Ewart Hall Renovation

You are here :

Ewart Memorial Hall has been a cultural hub of downtown Cairo since it opened its doors in 1928, serving as a gathering place for lovers of literature, cinema, music and all forms of arts and culture. “Ewart Memorial Hall is not only one of the oldest AUC facilities; it is also one of the largest, and to many in Cairo, it is the locus of cultural activity,” Lawrence Murphy noted in The American University in Cairo: 1919 – 1987.

DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK

The scope of work consists of supplying, installation, testing, programming and putting into operation the following systems:-

  • Professional Sound System
  • Professional Lighting System
  • Audio visual & Broadcast System
  • Wireless Intercom System
  • Interpretation & Assistive Listening system

Professional Sound System

The proposed project below was modelled using L-ACOUSTICS acoustic prediction software, SOUNDVISION, developed for sound designers.

SOUNDVISION is dedicated to the acoustical and mechanical simulation of L-ACOUSTICS systems (WST line arrays and coaxial point source technologies) which is allows the calculation of sound pressure level (SPL) coverage, SPL mapping and delay coverage (or mapping) for complex sound system and venue configurations. Either horizontal (plan) or vertical (cut) views can be selected to enter room coordinates or to define loudspeaker placement/aiming. Impact coverage, SPL mapping or delay is then based on direct sound calculation over defined audience geometry.

8 ETC ColorSource deep blue Spot Engine with CYC Adapter.

About the ColorSource Array options – Original vs. Deep Blue

Original ColorSource fixtures use an RGB-L array where the ‘B’ represents the use of blue LEDs. ColorSource Deep Blue replaces those blue LEDs with a deeper ‘Royal Blue’ (indigo) LED. How does this impact your color mixing? Please reference the color chart below.

Original ColorSource fixtures can reach any color within the dark shaded triangle while the ColorSource Deep Blue fixtures can reach any color within the light shaded triangle. While much of these areas overlap, there is a portion of each range that can only be reached by the respective color arrays (A=Original, B=Deep Blue).

Beyerdynamic SIS 1202 Interpreter double console

The SIS 1202 interpreter station has been developed for two interpreters. For each interpreter a headset or a microphone and a headphone can be connected to the interpreter station. The headphone signal can be switched between the original and a selected relay language. The original language is fed from a mixing console or a conference system into the control unit. The relay language is the translation of the original language, which the interpreter can use, if he/she cannot interpret from the current original language.

Beyerdynamic Iris TS MK II- Control Unit for digital transmission of up to 16 channels.

The Iris TS Mk II control unit is used within the Iris conference system for the transmission of maximal 16 audio channels by infrared light. The audio signal is converted into frequency modulated infrared light and then transmitted with the Iris EF radiators, which are directly connected to the Iris TS Mk II control unit. The original (OR) and a maximum of 15 target languages can simultaneously be transmitted on different carrier frequencies by narrow band frequency modulation.

LEDs indicate the appropriate status: channel on and audio signal present.Up to 30 Iris EF radiators can be connected to the Iris TS Mk IIcontrol unit. The Iris TS Mk II control unit is compliant with the international IEC 61603-7 standard.

Beyerdynamic Iris EF IR Transmitter radiators

The Iris EF radiator belongs to the latest generation of infrared system high power radiators for the wireless Iris audio system. An electrical signal supplied from the Iris TS infrared control unit is converted into infrared light invisible to people and radiated into the room. The signal to be transmitted can comprise up to 16 channels in the range of 2 to 6 MHz (band IV).

Beyerdynamic Iris RP-8 MK II- Digital IR pocket receiver.

The Iris RP Mk II infrared receiver has been designed for the reception of 8 or 16 audio channels within the frequency band 2 to 6 MHz. Within this frequency band interference caused by Plasma TV sets or fluorescent light tubes is not possible. The DQPSK digital modulation technology ensures smooth operation. The receiver is provided with a channel selector switch and volume control. The channel is displayed on the LC-Display. Depending on the version, there are 8 or 16 channels available. LEDs display the battery and signal status. The receiver can be worn around the neck with a cord or attached to the clothing with a clip. The Iris RP Mk II infrared receiver is compliant with the international IEC 61603-7 standard.
